Walking with the Gorillas by Jane and Kevin.
Not everyones cup of tea, but for us It was the trip of a life time.
Dubai to Entebbe was only a few hours flight, we had booked into The Imperial Resort Beach Hotel over looking Lake Victoria, which was very central, placed between the airport and Entebbe Town. The 2 nights spent in this newly renovated Hotel were great!
During the day we visited the Botanical Gardens and took a ride to Kampala, where lot of Tourist shops and stalls can be found.
But on to the purpose of the trip.
We were advised by Wild Discovery to charter a small plane to travel from Entebbe to Bwindi, and were glad that we did. The flight was 1hr15min whereas the road journey was going to take from 12 to 15hrs depending on the weather. We would have also missed the views from the plane over Lake Victoria.
We landed at a Tea plantation after the plane and the local Villagers had chased the cows off the grass runway.
Accommodation in Bwindi was first class; we had been camping many times before, but when they said Gorilla Forest Camp was a luxury tented camp, they meant it
We had 2 days tracking with the gorillas; the walks varied from 3hrs to 9hrs! an unforgettable experience, we will never forget.
We could not fault our trip. Wild Discovery arranged everything just like we wanted it and more
Our next challenge is to find a new adventure in a Wild destination to beat.
INDIA by Georges Khoury
I traveled to India from April 13 to April 18, 2006 and it was Wild Discovery who organized my trip.
The trip started in Delhi where I visited the Jama Masjid, Qutb Minar, Red Fort, India Gate, Rajghat and Birla Temple.
The hotel in New Delhi, The Claridges, was very luxurious and both food and service were excellent.
I bought some pacheminas and scarves from Delhi.
Then, I went by car to Jaipur with a stop in a charming 15th century hotel, Neemrana Fort Hotel.
In Jaipur, I visited the Amber Fort, passed by the Lake Palace; I also went to the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace (Maharaja Palace) and Jantar Mantar (Observatory). I bought some of the famous blue pottery of Jaipur and some nice bed sheets. I also visited jewelry shops.
Afterwards I went to Agra by car; on the road, I visited Fatihpur Sikri. The next day, I visited the Taj Mahal, Sikandra, Itmad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj) and the Agra Fort. In Agra, I visited a marble inlaying and carpet weaving workshops. The Jaypee Palace hotel in Agra was fantastic, the food and music were lovely and the surrounding gardens ideal for long walks.
Wild Discovery did a great job in planning this trip and making sure I was taken care of at all times.
